TREATMENT
Non-melanoma
For basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, local excision is a cure in majority of time, since they are rarely metastasis to other area. In certain situations, removal of can be achieved with cryotherapy by liquid nitrogen for very superficial lesions.
Melanoma
Since melanoma can be high aggressive, a wide local excision is usually required for treatment of melanoma. Sometimes the excision is so large that a reconstruction surgery is required to properly close the wound.
Apart from excision, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, target therapy and immunotherapy may be necessary. Prolong period of follow up is necessary to detect recurrence of the disease.
Similar to many other cancerous diseases, the early the detection of the disease, the more easy to treat with more favourable outcome.
